Shapiro-Thompson joins Rhode Island FC after spending his first professional season with New York Red Bulls II. Selected 79th overall in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft, Shapiro-Thompson scored one goal in 20 appearances during the 2023 MLS Next Pro season and registered one appearance with the first team. A 2022 graduate of Boston College, Shapiro-Thompson enjoyed a consistent collegiate career, scoring six goals and assisting five across three NCAA seasons. He started 33 matches in 36 appearances in Chestnut Hill and logged a total of 2,699 career minutes. A native of Worthington, Massachusetts, Shapiro-Thompson continued his youth career with the New England Revolution Academy before moving overseas in 2017, where he split a pair of seasons with the academies of Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb and Polish club Legia Warsaw. Shapiro-Thompson’s senior career began in 2018 with Legia Warsaw’s reserve team in the Polish third tier. After one season in Poland, Shapiro-Thompson returned to the U.S. for his collegiate career, where he also played for the Western Mass Pioneers of USL League Two.
